Danielle Sunde, School Founder

Danielle’s journey into the field of education began when searching for a preschool for her oldest son, which led her to the founding of Our PlayHouse Preschool in 2008.  During that first year she fell in love with the Reggio-Emilia approach to learning, and the connections to teachers, families, and children it fosters.  Since then Our PlayHouse has grown to two locations and served hundreds of families.  As her children grew and began school she started to feel the same desire about finding the perfect school for them that drove her to start OurPlayhouse.  The Studio School of Durham is the product of that desire and the manifestation of her hopes for a different type of school.

Danielle was a collegiate athlete, is a graduate of Randolph Macon Woman’s College, and worked in diverse industries prior to founding OurPlayhouse.  She loves to read, bake and travel. Danielle has four boys ages 5 – 13 and a husband, Jay, who loves all things UNC and hates to miss a great concert.  She has a newfound passion for Barre3 classes and her happiest times are in, on, or around water – mostly the salty kind.
